Chapter 1306 - 94: Identity Crisis (Part 2)
"Yeah, you said it, a sacred community of destiny."Bologue said, extending his fist.
Looking at Bologue’s extended fist, Aimou hesitated a bit and said openly, "The way you look now, we seem like brothers in arms."
"There’s not much difference, you know," Bologue got interested in this topic, "thinking about it, it’s really like that."
Aimou was at a loss for words and sighed helplessly, "Could you please not always ruin the mood like this?"
"I’m just a bit shy." Bologue said with embarrassment when his lame joke was seen through.
"Even the great Bologue can be shy?"
"Maybe, it’s like a strange threshold," Bologue thought for a moment and added, "you’ve seen those family movies, right? By the end, when the jokes have been told, that atmosphere suddenly comes up."
"Yeah," Aimou nodded, "and then everyone hugs and cries together."
"Exactly."
Aimou tried to follow Bologue’s train of thought, "So you think... um... after the atmosphere between us reaches a certain level... what will happen?"
Brought to a key point, Bologue hesitated, "I don’t know, I really don’t. I just said, I’m a paranoid control freak, even wanting to control myself."
"Do you think that once the atmosphere reaches a certain threshold, you’ll do something out of control?"
"Maybe, people are always wary of things they’ve never experienced."
When mentioning this, Bologue seemed genuinely shy, and seeing him like this gave Aimou an indescribable feeling.
"Is this what they call contrast?"
Aimou said impulsively.
Outside of this bar, Bologue is the leader of the action group, a Negative Power User, an extremely cold-blooded expert, a ruthless killer skilled in various techniques, and even a veteran from the Scorched Earth Fury. But inside this bar, in front of Aimou, he’s like a restrained Cultivator.
"Huh?"
"Nothing, nothing." Aimou quickly brushed over the topic.
Aimou pondered a bit, then looked at Bologue with a peculiar smile which made Bologue a bit uneasy. He picked up fries one by one to divert his attention.
"Bologue, I have a question."
"Go ahead."
"Do you think... this sacred community of destiny between us is a burden for you, a decision after losing control?"
From Bologue’s perspective, a sacred community of destiny, establishing a close emotional connection, or even, having a romantic relationship—none of this seems like a rational choice for a desperado like him, but in the end, Bologue confessed and sought this connection.
Aimou was very curious about what Bologue truly thought.
"Yes."
Bologue immediately gave a definite answer, "It’s a burden, and it’s also a choice after losing control."
"But I don’t hate it."
Bologue mechanically stuffed fries into his mouth as if refueling his language engine, "If you want something you’ve never had, you must do something you’ve never done."
"From a rational standpoint, it’s wrong, but from an emotional perspective, I’m willing to pay for this out-of-control choice. That is, although it violates my principles to a certain extent, I’m willing to make an exception."
Bologue finished the fries, wiped his fingers, and Aimou raised a hand, calling out, "Another serving, please."
"I’m full."
"But I’m not yet." Aimou glanced at Bologue.
"Oh, oh, oh."
Aimou’s gaze returned to Bologue, as she asked, "Do you have any defense left for yourself?"
"Defense? Not really."
Under Aimou’s scrutinizing gaze, Bologue felt a bit restless; it’s strange how sometimes their conversations turned into something akin to an interrogation.
In a moment, a new plate of fries was brought, and Aimou picked one up, slowly and meticulously eating it like a guinea pig nibbling on lettuce.
"Bologue."
Aimou suddenly called out Bologue’s name.
"What’s up?"
Suddenly being called, it felt like being named by a teacher in class.
"Has anyone ever told you that you’re quite good at sweet talk?"
"Sweet talk?" Bologue looked stupefied, "How is that possible?"
Seeing Bologue’s completely unaware and dumbfounded expression, Aimou applauded and sighed, "Master, no wonder you’re an expert; you’re also amazingly proficient in this area."
"Am I?"
Bologue’s voice rose; he’s always been ashamed of expressing emotions, and for Bologue, it was unrealistic to take the initiative in doing such a thing.
"It’s nothing, it’s nothing," Aimou stifled her laughter and patted Bologue’s shoulder, "Masters are just like that, unknowingly winning over their opponents."
"Huh?"
Bologue was totally at a loss; from his perspective, he was only honestly conveying his thoughts.
"Don’t be surprised, I’m complimenting you."
Aimou reached out and tugged at the corner of Bologue’s mouth, making him show an awkward smile.
Bologue couldn’t figure it out, while Aimou couldn’t stop laughing. Seeing her like this, Bologue moved the newly arrived fries to his side and continued eating, one after another.
After spending so much time with Palmer, Bologue also started to like these fried foods. If only there was a glass of iced orange juice to pair with a favorite movie, it would be perfect.
