Chapter 561 – Becoming Human

Chapter 561 – Becoming Human

During his one year of seclusion, Leyvi had occasionally observed what Coryl was doing as she lived as part of the Leyan Family.Outside of her guardian duties, he noticed that Coryl seemed to genuinely enjoy living a mundane human life. The peaceful and slow kind, without any fighting involved.

Sometimes she joined Sayu to listen to novels, sometimes she learned fashion designing from Nala, sometimes she helped Sawi with her inventions, sometimes she learned cooking from Tasya, sometimes she assisted Lilian in maintaining all the flower gardens around the estate, and many other everyday human activities.

All the ladies in the house seemed to get along with her very well. With her incredibly graceful and lady-like manner, Leyvi often thought that she seemed more like a real human than a demonic beast.

Take Senior Lapin for example. Even though he also had a human form, the presence he gave off was still unmistakably that of a demonic beast.

However, it was different with Coryl. Leyvi could not sense any beastly aura from her at all. If he had not already known beforehand that she was a demonic beast, he would have thought she was simply a human with a very unique and beautiful fashion sense.

Could it be that she really wants to live as a human? Leyvi wondered.

It was not impossible. After all, she had spent thousands of years watching people from within her cultivator-city-sized coral fortress.

That said, whenever she had to fulfill her duty as the Leyan Family's guardian, she carried it out properly and without complaint.

She had never used her superior cultivation to establish any authority. She simply abided by the agreement she had made with the family.

After the incident with the Holy Son, Leyvi realized that the Leyan Family had become quite well-known among the masses. It would not be impossible for any of them to be targeted by people with ill intent in the future.

Since returning from the wedding, Leyvi had implemented a new rule: whenever any family member left the city, they must be accompanied by a guardian. They could ask either Coryl or Senior Lapin for protection. Of course, the ladies overwhelmingly preferred Coryl.

Anda, Layla, Lilian, Tasya, Selene, and Ava were among those who left the city most frequently, which meant Coryl often accompanied them.

This was especially true for Layla. She had served as City Lord for over a decade, and her relentless efforts to root out crime both inside and outside the city had earned her quite a few enemies.

In the past, she had always stayed within the city. But after her clone advanced to the point where she could create a life-sized version of herself, she had begun sending the clone out more often to oversee all the ongoing projects across the Bara territories.

Coryl had reported to Layla that more and more people were spying on her, watching her every movement whenever the clone went outside. This was not surprising at all.

But of course, this was also part of Layla's plan to lure them out. She deliberately sent her clone out "personally" so she could investigate and uncover who was sending the spies. She had already eliminated most, if not all, of the criminal organizations within Bara City.

With the upgrade to her clone, she felt much more secure and now added deception to her methods. Relying on these advantages, she intended to expand her purge efforts across the entire Bara region, turning it into the safest place to live for both mortals and cultivators alike.

Once she uncovered where these shady groups were operating and mapped out their networks, Coryl would help her deal with them directly.

All in all, Leyvi was very satisfied with Coryl's performance so far.

As Leyvi approached the Coral Mansion, a man dressed in formal butler attire stepped out from the main door and greeted him respectfully. He wore a sharp black tailcoat, a crisp white dress shirt with a bow tie, and well-pressed trousers.

"Lord Leyvi. You're finally here," Cora said happily, giving a well-practiced and elegant bow. "I've been waiting for you to visit all this time."

"Hahaha! Sorry about that," Leyvi replied with a laugh. "I was busy cultivating. What about you? Don't just admire coral all day. You need to cultivate too."

He had communicated with Cora a few times since they met again. Never would he have thought that the coral harvester he had encountered at Reefworld Lagoon would end up changing his profession so drastically and become a devoted butler.

Leyvi had learned that Cora was a coral fanatic through and through. His entire life had always revolved around coral in one way or another.

Cora had told him that the first time Coryl revealed herself to him, he instantly knew that the purpose of his life was to serve her. Since that moment, he had been absolutely loyal to her.

And because Coryl had shown clear interest in Leyvi, Cora treated him with the utmost respect and deference.

Leyvi had tried to get Cora to stop calling him "Lord," but it had failed. In the end, he simply let him be.

When Leyvi once asked if Cora loved Coryl in a romantic way, Cora had denied it vehemently, saying it would be blasphemy for someone like him to harbor such feelings. He then began describing her as if she were a divine being. That was when Leyvi realized Cora's feelings had reached a fanatical level.

"Lord Leyvi, if I focus on cultivation, who will be serving Lady Coryl whenever she needs something done?" Cora argued earnestly. "I need to be available for her at all times."

Leyvi shook his head gently. "Cora, that kind of thinking is wrong. You're only focusing on the present and failing to consider the future. You need to look at the bigger picture."

"Lord Leyvi, what do you mean by that?" Cora asked, looking confused.

"How long can your Lady Coryl live, and how long can you live?" Leyvi asked, raising an eyebrow.

Cora blinked, as if realizing something for the first time.

"That's right," Leyvi continued. "She has already lived for thousands of years and will continue to live for many thousands more. What about you? When I first met you, you were at the peak of Foundation Building Realm. More than a decade has passed, and you're still stuck in the same realm. That's not good. You can only live up to around 150 years old. Do you only want to serve her for that short amount of time?"

"This… I am 56 years old now," Cora said slowly. "Which means I only have less than a hundred years left to serve her. That's too short… Lord Leyvi, what should I do?"

Leyvi's mouth twitched. How can you still not realize? The answer is obviously to cultivate.

"It's simple," Leyvi said patiently. "Spare some time to cultivate. I'm sure you're not short on resources now, so it will be much easier for you."

"But that means I won't be available to serve my lady whenever she needs someone," Cora shook his head, firmly rejecting the idea. "I can't be at ease like this."

Leyvi was speechless. Had Cora's fanaticism reached a level where it could no longer be reasoned with?

His mind worked quickly, trying to find a solution. He genuinely liked a person like Cora and did not want him to waste his life for such a shortsighted reason.

Ding! An idea suddenly popped into his brain.

"Cora. Why don't you recruit more people to serve your lady?" Leyvi suggested. "That way, you can spare some time to cultivate in peace. I'm sure there are other people who share your passion for coral. You can even use the Coral Mansion as an advertisement. Oh right, if they're girls, maybe you can marry them and build a family together. The more the merrier. Hahaha."

The marrying part was mostly a joke, but little did Leyvi realize that his casual suggestion would one day spark an entire lineage of families. They would make it their tradition to admire and work with corals, serving Coryl faithfully for generations to come.

Leyvi's idea had successfully taken root in Cora's mind.

"Lord Leyvi, thank you for giving me such a great idea," Cora said happily. "I don't know why I haven't thought of it until now. I'm such an idiot. I'll immediately start preparing for the recruitment after this."

"Hahaha. Don't worry about it," Leyvi replied. "As long as you don't completely neglect your cultivation."

"Come, Lord Leyvi. I'll show you around a little and bring you to Lady Coryl," Cora invited, leading Leyvi into the Coral Mansion.

On the balcony of the uppermost floor, on the opposite side of the entrance, Coryl was leaning gracefully against the railing with a beautiful, gentle smile on her face.

The Coral Mansion was her domain. She could hear and see everything that happened near it, so Leyvi and Cora's entire conversation had naturally reached her ears.

"I wonder if I have become human enough to his liking?" she murmured softly, her eyes glinting with quiet expectation.
