Chapter 177: A Day Out For Bonding
Chapter 177: A Day Out For Bonding
"So this is Chinatown?"
"This place looks cool~"
"There’s so many cars."
"There’s certainly quite a number of Chinese here."
"Are all the Chinese in this country gathered here?"
"Umm... No... There’s actually a history behind it when we were colonised by the British and..."
I tuned out the conversations my Guardians were having to look around the place.
With a group like this, there was no way they weren’t going to draw attention from everyone else.
Everyone here practically looks like they were supermodels that have decided to take a day off to visit the city together or something.
And then there’s this odd guy in a T-shirt and shorts that’s just following them around like a groupie or something...
Yep, I was talking about myself of course.
The people around were probably wondering what were several supermodels doing here and why there was some weird guy following them around wearing shorts.
"What is this place called again?" Kris asked, looking around the rows of shops on both sides of the street.
"Pagoda street," I told him helpfully. "It’s basically a tourist spot if you ask me. Usually locals don’t come here to shop but it’s certainly a nice place to take photos at I guess."
Ava turned to me with a wry smile, "Ara, ara~ Are you sure you should be saying something like that, my Darling?"
Olivia swivelled around to stare at Ava with narrowed eyes, "Darling?"
Ava giggled, "Ufufufu~ Wouldn’t it be too obvious if I were to call him the same way as usual? We don’t want my Darling’s real identity to be leaked don’t we?"
Olivia glared at her before turning to me, "Is there anything you would like to do my... My... My D... Dear?"
Oh wow, that is cute. I almost wanted to go over and start patting her head because she was so cute.
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... Well, it’s still early in the day now so we can just go take a look around for now?"
The rest agreed and I followed along this group of super attractive people down the street to look at the various stalls around.
Like I had told them, this was more of a tourist spot so the stalls around were catered more towards tourists and were selling souvenirs and stuff at inflated prices.
Well... I guess if my Guardians saw something they liked, they could just buy it anyway since it’s their own money and it’s not like the stuff here are scams or anything like that.
Most important of all...
Kris picked up a small fortune cat, "Look, isn’t this cute?"
Jia Lian giggled, "Hehe~ It really is cute."
"What is that thing though?" Leena asked, peering over their shoulders.
Kris huffed, "Isn’t this just a cat?"
"Oh no. This is what we would call a fortune cat that is meant to be a lucky charm that ushers in fortune," Jia Lian explained.
Sergei picked up one of those fortune cats from the display, "It is still cute, isn’t it? Funny how a lot of my past... Ah... Nevermind."
"Ara, ara~ Then what about these? These look different~" Ava asked, lifting up one of the many Merlion figurines that the store was also selling.
Olivia huffed, "Don’t you even know? That’s this country’s icon where it combines the body of a fish to showcase the country’s status in maritime trade and the head of a lion to represent its history of it being known as Lion City. This was explained in the courses that showed this country’s history."
Maylene pointed at one of the T-shirts that was being displayed as well, "Look, look! They have that on the shirts too! They look so cool!"
Hmmm~ They definitely look like they’re getting along quite well so I have no complaints about that.
There doesn’t seem to be any awkwardness too so this was definitely a good idea.
I watched over the Guardians as they marvelled over the things that were being displayed with either Jia Lian, myself or Olivia explaining to the others about the various local stuff that was on display.
Incidentally, I also noticed that my group definitely stood out because everyone here was really attractive and stylish, but we weren’t standing out simply because we had other worlders in our group.
All around us, there were also other worlders that were also walking around either also visiting this street or working here.
But well... We definitely drew attention because of all these attractive people here.
Some people even whipped out their phones to snap photos but we pretended not to see them and just went about our day.
We went to the next store and it was a clothing store that was also selling rather overpriced clothing that was supposed to have the local flair on them with various designs and pictures depicting local culture printed on them.
My Guardians seem to be surprisingly interested in them and were even looking to purchase a few of them that they could use to dress themselves back on our island.
"Oh, what do you think about this?" Kris giggled, holding up a shirt that had the cartoon of the Merlion spitting on a random person.
"That looks a little tasteless. Something like this would suit you better," Leena offered, showing him a shirt with a rather cute floral design on it showcasing our country’s national flower in the centre.
Jia Lian backed her up with a nod, "I think so too. This suits you better than that one."
Kris immediately took the shirt and held both of them to show them to me, "Master~ What do you think? Which one looks better?!"
I winced and noticed several people turning over to look in our direction, drawn by the fact that someone had just outright called another person ’Master’ in public.
I hardened myself and pointed at the shirt with the flowers, "I think that one would look better on you."
"Ehehehehe~ If that is what Master says~"
He skipped off to make the purchase and I have to say... I’m surprised that my Guardians had barely raised an eyebrow at Kris’s choice of address for me.
I know they would accept his crossdressing but they not only accepted it, they pretty much encouraged it too.
I ignored the stares from the passers-by to walk towards Sergei who seemed to be trying to decide between two clothes with similar designs, only that one had a primarily black colour scheme while the other sported a few shades of white in the graphic.
Olivia was there with him as she pointed out, "Since you would only be wearing this in the living area, I would say the darker option would fit you better."
"Hmm... I think so too, Miss Olivia," Sergei agreed, clearly being quite formal with the red Oni. "I suppose that would have to do."
In a rare case where she wasn’t butting heads with Olivia, Ava was also looking at a few bags on display besides them.
"Ara, ara~ What do you two think about these bags here?"
"These not only seem overpriced but they aren’t even that practical," Sergei pointed out.
Olivia also agreed, "For these types of things, you’re better off buying them outside of the tourist areas."
Ava let out a giggle, "Fufufu~ I see, I see~ I shall keep that in mind."
I directed my attention to Maylene at the far end of the store and she seemed to be busy picking out snacks that she could bring back to enjoy with the other bunny girls when we got back.
Right now, I was still basking in the fact that this little outing seemed to be serving its purpose in getting all of us together.
My Guardians quickly made their purchases and we decided to grab a few quick bites from the food stores that were nearby.
There were quick bites like fishballs, curry puffs and even doughsticks, all of us just buying something that we could enjoy as we walked.
I got myself a small helping of takoyaki balls and the moment I got it, my Guardians suddenly crowded around me.
"My Darling~ Could I have a taste?"
"Oh, me, me! Master, let me try it too!"
"My... My Dear? May I try one as well?"
"Umm... Mor... I mean... Qing, could I also try it? You can have some of mine as well."
"Boss? I would like to try a bit of that as well."
Heck, even Sergei had joined in though he was just holding onto his small box of fishballs and waiting for his turn to trade food with me.
There was no doubt we were drawing a lot of attention. Everyone must be wondering why this entire group of attractive looking people were crowding around me and trying to share their food with me.
Sorry everyone... But that’s going to have to be a mystery that you won’t be able to answer for the foreseeable future at least.
As for me... I’m going to enjoy sharing this moment with my Guardians and watching them also share their food with each other~
