Chapter 1572 - 956: Rapidly Spreading Information (2)
Hevi stared at the latest news, looking completely dumbfounded for a moment. But this intel was sent over by that Luluwo from the Skyrim Strategy Group, and the Skyrim Strategy Group’s intel has never once been fake!
So even though he really didn’t want to believe it, the intel actually turned out to be real!
"What the hell is this," Hevi muttered to himself. "I just haven’t gone into the Sain Dungeon for a while, how did things develop to the point I can’t even understand what’s going on anymore?"
He suddenly snapped back to himself and quickly asked the person who’d brought the intel, "Does everyone know about this? If they don’t, then hurry up and—"
"Everybody already knows."
The Starfire Knight said speechlessly, "The guy who brought the intel over is a big loudmouth. On his way here he just spilled everything to everyone."
"We’re screwed...."
Hevi couldn’t help but cover his face in a headache.
Now he’d have to spend ages talking everyone down again.
The last time he had to work this hard with his mouth was also thanks to the Sain Dungeon, that whole Flament incident.
By the time Hevi walked out, the Starfire Church side was already in an uproar, with people from other Churches crowding around outside to watch the show. The scene could be said to be full of life and brimming with a bright future.
"I said back then that shoving Solar up onto that Saint Angel pedestal was a mistake, and look, now something’s blown up!"
"Wasn’t it because the bishop wanted to boost our influence at the time!"
The Starfire Church’s management was arguing endlessly over this.
"That Solar actually turned into an Animated Corpse?"
"That’s too scary. Are we going to turn into that too?"
The ordinary believers were panicking and gossiping.
"The Sun Warriors are done for!"
There were also some unknown creatures taking this chance to fan the flames and push the slide even steeper.
"So lively, let’s join the fun too!"
And other Churches were maliciously watching from the sidelines.
A real gathering of "virtuous gentlemen," everyone and their dog had shown up; the scene honestly made one feel like downing a big cup of liquor on the spot.
Watching what was in front of him, the corner of Hevi’s eyes twitched hard a few times, and his fists clenched involuntarily.
"For fuck’s sake, how am I supposed to manage this..."
His fists had hardened—Hevi’s fists had hardened.
On the other side.
"Solar became an Animated Corpse? Who?"
In the Dark Moon Sword camp, Fingerley raised his head in confusion.
"He can even turn into an Animated Corpse?"
After listening to the whole story from the person beside him, he couldn’t help letting out a sigh, thinking of how the Dark Moon Swords reacted back when they learned Gwendolin had already been eaten.
Although Solar’s status in the Starfire Church didn’t seem to match Gwendolin’s status for the Dark Moon Swords, a living, interactive, helpful Sun Warrior was far more deeply rooted in people’s hearts than Gwyn, who currently had never actually interacted with anyone. Within the Starfire Church, there were definitely plenty of people whose respect for Solar surpassed that for Gwyn.
So, for them, this situation was undoubtedly equivalent to the Dark Moon Swords losing Gwendolin.
"Looks like the Starfire Church is going to have a rough time these days."
Fingerley thought for a bit, maybe recalling the Dark Moon Swords’ situation back then, and said:
"Let’s help out too. Maybe we can’t help them mentally, but we can at least help keep order."
There were definitely unknown forces looking to take this opportunity to make a move on the Starfire Church.
This depended on whether the Dark Moon Swords were willing.
And farther away.
"Huh? Solar became an Animated Corpse!?"
Yanor Kingdom, Bed City.
Upon hearing this from a companion, Steeran’s grip slipped and she failed to hold onto what was in her hands—"bang!"—it dropped to the floor.
"Hang on, is this for real? Why? How is this possible?"
"We... we don’t know either, this came from the Skyrim Strategy Group." Her companion, whose shoulder she was clutching, also had confusion in their eyes.
"This... Luluwo said it?"
Steeran’s pupils shook violently; a year ago she would never have even imagined hearing such news.
This was Solar. Back when she was helping train Sun Warriors, every time she’d drag Solar out as a model example and have the adventurers who’d just become Sun Warriors study his character.
And now that warrior whose will had once seemed indestructible and harder than steel had turned into a fruit because his faith had been shaken—what kind of joke was this!
"There’s no more information?"
"That’s it. The word’s all over outside now, but a lot of it already feels like fake rumors."
Steeran fell silent for a moment, then said:
"I’ll go find Luluwo myself again."
News about Solar spread through the entire adventurer circle at high speed.
And it immediately set off a huge storm.
Even Gong Qiying probably hadn’t expected that such a major change happening to a residual shadow character would stir up so much; the current momentum was in no way inferior to Topps back then, maybe even surpassing it.
Because the Sain Dungeon now welcomed far, far more adventurers, and it was hard to find any adventurer who had never received help from a Sun Warrior. Almost everyone had seen Solar’s figure in battle.
So once this news spread, anyone who heard it was bound to have an emotional reaction.
Even some adventurers exploring other nearby Dungeons had their emotions swing wildly after learning of this, leaking more spiritual power, leaving the City Lords of those Dungeons wondering why their recent revenue had gone up.
Very soon, many parties set out to look into the reason behind Solar’s change, wanting to verify whether the Skyrim Strategy Group’s intel was true.
And they did indeed find new details that Luluwo hadn’t discovered.
It turned out that as long as one had defeated any holder of a King’s Soul, and then returned to the Sun Altar located in the Undead Town Outside the City, they could encounter Solar again.
At that point, his emotions and faith were already starting to go off, mumbling to himself that he couldn’t find his Sun anywhere; the crack in his faith had already appeared by then.
Some adventurers tried talking to him, hoping to use their gift of gab to enlighten him; the result, as expected, was completely useless.
Some adventurers told Solar where the Nameless King was, wanting to get him to change course and not go to the Chaos Ruins of Izalis. This move actually seemed to have some effect—Solar was really persuaded.
But when he asked how to get to the Ancient Dragon Peak, the adventurers stalled out, because the route they described sounded completely unfamiliar to Solar; he had no idea those places even existed.
This attempt ultimately had to be declared a failure as well.
Others went straight for attacking Solar, because someone had already discovered that if they chose to attack a residual shadow character, it would cause the latter to remain in place in a permanent hostile state and not move on to the next area.
So people were really willing to become enemies of Solar just to keep him? This method spread more and more widely, and plenty of people rushed to imitate it.
Seeing this, Gong Qiying even lowered the drop rate of the Star Tear Drop used for absolution.
Even after several days, with adventurers exhausting every trick they could think of, they still couldn’t find a way to correct Solar’s change. Every kind of fancy method was used, but it was still to no avail.
In the end, people could only announce in disappointment that Solar was pretty much beyond saving.
His ending as an Animated Corpse was already nailed down, an unchangeable fact.
Adventurers who felt a deeper attachment to Solar immediately began to lament and reminisce, cherishing the Solar in their own worlds who had not yet turned into an Animated Corpse. Some even stopped pushing their exploration progress, afraid their familiar old friend would disappear because of it.
Others took this chance to start checking on the other residual shadow characters, looking to see if any other residual shadows would change as adventurers progressed. Fortunately, nothing had been found so far.
This whole Solar incident suddenly made people pay much more attention to the Sain Dungeon’s residual shadows, and they realized that everyone was ultimately going to part ways.
In the end, to both commemorate Solar and soothe emotions within the Church, the Starfire Church took the lead and organized gatherings in several cities under the theme of remembering Solar.
In short, a memorial service.
